- Bihar, a state once known for their power projection, a state which was once a centre of power, a state from where the concept of India was born and the state from where the mightiest Magadh Empire took its shape was now seems to be everyone’s Achilles heels. The state of Bihar is now known to bring adversaries and agony to the Western States Sub political class.
Bihar was not like what we are looking today how came a state which was known for the world’s reputed University like Nalanda become the most illiterate state of today? Bihar which was once known for the economic power projection has now constrained themselves and are counted among the poorest states of India.

- There are various questions that still Rises among the minds of curious learners that what are the significant reasons which made a state like Bihar into something unimaginable? Most of the notable economists and political pundits agree that such condition of Bihar is caused by the government’s ill justified policies,Freight equalization policy being one among them. According to this policy equal growth of industry was to be done all over the country. This means a factory could be set up anywhere in India and the transportation of minerals would be subsidized by the central government. Now this policy hurt the economic prospects of those States which are mineral rich ,Bihar being one among them.
- The geographical location of Bihar is also one of the factors which contributes to the overall downfall of this state. The state is landlocked and almost 90% of the trade are done via seas. Thus private companies generally establish their factories in those States which are coastal in nature to avoid the transportation costs. It gives immense benefits to the states like Maharashtra Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh over others. Thus the people of these states are more likely to be employed, rich, stable and prosperous. The same can be seen vis a vis countries of coastal and landlocked nature. Most of the African and South American Nations like chad, Niger, Bolivia and Paraguay are landlocked thus poor and the Nations like Unites states, UK, Japan and India are coastal in nature and thus prosperous.
- The poverty and lack of health care we see in Bihar today is nothing but the reflection of how the political Masters amassed wealth spreading enormous amount of corruption and loot among various vertical hierarchical posts. The state saw its worse during the rule of chief ministers like Rabri Devi, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jitan Ram Manjhi. There was nepotism, casteism and loot prevalent throughout the state. The fate of Bihar hanged among the hands of incapable leaders like mentioned above. Bihar during those days was lost beyond redemption and this will be an understatement to say that.
- As an informed youth and one of the proud Bihari, i deeply sympathesise with the youth of Bihar today. They are completely distracted wasting their quality youth period in making Tik Tok videos or opening their own you tube pages hoping to get famous one day. Well, I can definitely sense the enthusiasm and energy that youth of Bihar possesses but it all goes for a toss once it gets used in wrong direction.
- Bihar possesses a whole bunch of talent pool and it will not be an exaggeration to point out the fact that this state despite the prevalence of lot of poverty and poor infrastructure manages to give the most number of civil servants who are considered as the Steel frame of the nation. I would again blame the political class of Bihar for not providing quality education, better infrastructure and affordable Healthcare. The state where 58% population is under the age of 25 must have taken long strides towards growth and development, especially at a time when the world is full of Information and is merely a few clicks away. I still find no schemes or policy of the government which are directly oriented towards giving the right direction to the misguided youth. Bihar is still a long way to go to harness what is available today and those who are able to harness it, they are really few in numbers.

These points somewhat takes me to the conclusion that what happened with Bihar is a case of political ignorance and the state still possesses very hardworking and bright youths which still can be seen on the railway station of town like Sasaram showing their mettle.
- I would also like to advise those people who are living outside the state to raise their sub Nationalist sentiments and to understand that they have also a duty for their state. Educate yourself, make yourself capable of bringing a change and when you do that, please do come home. Leaving your own state in peril is also a breach of your moral and ethical responsibility. Do contribute in your own way towards the growth of this state and always remember “Rome was not built in a day”. Bihar is growing and that too at a rapid pace. The state is once again rising from the Ashes and when it Rises, do make sure to say proudly that I have also contributed to build a state like that.
Be the change you want to see in the world and that change starts from your own home.
